The Perfect Song

The Perfect Song

Each one of us wants our special day to be unique and stand out, and the first dance is one of those “all eyes on you” moments. Picking a few songs out out of thousands is not an easy task; especially for a busy bride! What about the father-daughter dance? Of course you’ll have to approve the mother-son dance as well. There are so many artists, genres, and generational eras to choose from. Here, I have collected a few of my personal favorite wedding songs. I created this list to bring some unique and different ideas to the table. I hope you enjoy and cherish them as much as I do!

“Love Will Be Enough for Us” by Brandon Heath

If you are looking for a song to make your guests cry, look no further. This song is for the sweet, sentimental bride and groom. If this version doesn’t blow you away, there are also two other versions!

“Speechless” by Dan+Shay

This is a new release; let me tell you, it’s to die for! This choice is slower, but still has a great tempo to dance to. With lyrics such as, “Just watching you is all that I can do, I’m Speechless” it will hold a special meaning between you and your groom!

“You Are the Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne

This classic song is upbeat, yet still has a great tempo to dance to. This will surely have others singing along and everyone excited. “You are my everything,” what more could you ask for, but an unfailing love with someone you get to call your everything?

“Crush” by Dave Matthews Band

The perfect combination of a slower tempo, mixed with a jazz vibe. Mix it up with this song and give the crowd and your groom the best of both worlds. This is a song to let your personality shine through!

“Better Together” by Jack Johnson

This laid-back song is perfect for someone who likes a little spark in their music. If you aren’t looking for a choreographed dance, this song is perfect. You can sway along to the beat of the music without the pressure of remembering steps!

“Only Love” by Ben Howard

This alternative song is a great slower song. Howard’s voice alone is breathtaking. You and your fiancé definitely have a different vibe if you fall in love with this song. Don’t be afraid to be different because that’s what brought you together in the first place.

“Mess is Mine” by Vance Joy

A sweet folk-sounding song that gives you a happy vibe from the moment you hear it. Even though this isn’t a so called tear-jerker, it definitely carries a lot of meaning behind it. “Hold on darling, this body is yours; this mess was yours now your mess is mine.”

“Love on Top” by Beyoncé

This upbeat song has to be the number one song to dance to. This song is for the fun, carefree bride and groom who want to show guests their fun personality! This song will be sure to get the crowd on their feet!

“Sugar” by Maroon 5

This song is extremely fun and upbeat. It is definitely for the girl who wants to turn this emotional day into a big party. The lyrics in this song are still full of meaning, even though the song has a strong tempo. If you want to have fun with your first dance, you won’t regret choosing this song.

How Sweet It Is ( To Be Loved by You) by Marvin Gaye

This song is perfect for an old soul. Someone who appreciates a good classic. It is starts upbeat, but transitions into a slower song! What better words to express yourself than to say, “How sweet it is to be loved by you.”

Father Daughter Dance

“My Wish” by Rascal Flatts

This country song is slower, which is perfect for a father-daughter dance.  This song expresses everything a father wants in his daughter, “More than anything, my wish for you is that this life becomes all that you want it to.” Definitely a song that can bring tears yet make you smile incredibly big!

“My little girl” by Tim McGraw

This song is ideal for the southern bride and father who share a love for country music. I would say this is the most emotional of all the songs so far and it will make this tender moment even more emotional. Be prepared to pull out the tissues if this is your pick!

“I loved her first” by Heartland

This song is an oldie, but sometimes you will find these are the best songs for father-daughter dances. If the song meant a lot to your father, it will mean that much more to you!

“Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder

If you are looking for a livelier tone than the normal slow father- daughter songs, then this song is that perfect fit!

“Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carlisle

This one is a  slow song that will allow you to savor the moment and show your special bond with your father. It is also a good pick if you and your father share a relationship with God.

Mother Son Dance

“Never Grow Up” by Taylor Swift

“Oh darling, don’t you ever grow up just stay this little.” These memories will be sure to flood your mother with emotion when she hears this song.

“Sweet Child O’ Mine” by Guns N’ Roses

This song is perfect for the mother and son that loves classic rock. This is one of the songs that the instant it comes on is going to recognize it.

Sometimes brides already know what their songs will be. Others don’t even know where to start looking. That’s why I’m here, no matter what phase of wedding planning you are in, your first dance is a moment that you will remember for the rest of your life. Whatever song you end up choosing, I hope every second of it is perfect!
